About us

The company Associated Motors Company Limited was formed and duly registered on the 5th January 1967, wholly owned by the Zammit family.

With the introduction of the third generation of the Zammit family during the 1960’s, it was felt necessary that in order to ensure continued growth, the business must diversify into other fields. On the basis of the technical and mechanical competence acquired by the third generation members of the Zammit family, it was decided way back in 1967 to enter into the motor vehicle import and distribution business.

The first breakthrough came with the franchise for Honda Motor Cycles. The success achieved with motorcycles encouraged the company to venture into motor vehicles and the relationship with Honda Motors was further consolidated with the importation of motor vehicles during the early 1970’s. Again, the company managed to overcome the not-insignificant problems that it faced during the initial years and succeeded to locally build the Honda brand into the household name that it enjoys today. Yet later still, the company was also awarded the franchise for all the Honda Motors products, which include Marine Leisure Products, Power Products and Agriculture and Gardening Products.

The late 1980’s and early 1990’s were years of rapid growth in the brand’s local market share in terms of both motor vehicles and motorcycles.

During 2007, the company marked its 40th anniversary with a number of activities.
